Henry Kekahuna
"Accomplishing a far greater purpose than that of merely a park for recreation, would be a genuine Hawaiian village... Let the great work begin in Koloa!”
Blueprint for Restoration
Henry Kekahuna (1881-1969) was a gifted Hawaiian surveyor who worked for the Bishop Museum and wrote extensively about the preservation of Hawaiian cultural sites. He mapped over sixty heiau across the Hawaiian islands, but only three on Kaua'i. His visionary work is the blueprint for today's restoration efforts at Kāneiolouma.
